​BESIX Watpac CEO Mark Baker recently broke ground at the Woodford Youth Detention Centre Project site alongside Queensland Premier Steven Miles and Minister for Education and Youth Justice Di Farmer.

The construction contractor has been awarded stage 1 for the new 80-bed centre, which will comprise two 40-bed campuses with a single shared perimeter as well as a selection of shared facilities.

As a therapeutic centre it will include more home-like accommodation units; consultation and treatment rooms; multi-purpose spaces for education, skills development, and training; areas for physical activity, green spaces, and spaces for cultural connection.

The project comprises 17 built facilities, landscaped areas, roadworks, car parking and necessary services and services upgrades to support the operational facility.

BESIX Watpac is seeking expressions of interest from all trades to tender on a number of trade packages for the project. Interest can be registered via ICN via the following link here - https://wydc.icn.org.au/
